First Edition Signed
First Edition. Original privately printed 121 page shooting script for the beloved Robin Williams film Patch Adams written by Steve Oedekerk, based on the book by Hunter ÒPatchÓ Adams and Maureen Mylander. Signed by Robin Williams to a member of the crew: ÒTo Pearson, with friends like me who needs enemies. You are one funny, ravishingly beautiful engaged woman, Robin Williams. Steven has a 10 year grace periodÓ at a black & white photo of Robin Williams in character. Beautifully bound in maroon cloth with quarter maroon leather, gilt-stamping to the front board and spine, decorative endpapers, 8 5/8 inches by 11 1/4 inches. All edges are gilt. Fine. Unbeknownst to the many admirers of Robin Williams was that he was a lover of books. Over the years, Williams had his own private press specially printing on fine papers and handsomely binding editions of the screenplays of some of the films he appeared in. They were all printed in very small quantities. Williams would sign them and then they would be sent to members of the cast and crew of the productions. As a unique item, this is a special opportunity to honor and celebrate WilliamsÕs love of his craft, his love of books, and his appreciation of the people who helped to bring his films to life. Patch Adams was written by Steve Oedekerk, based on the book by Hunter ÒPatchÓ Adams and Maureen Mylander, starring Robin Williams, Monica Potter, Daniel London, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Peter Coyote, and Michael Jeter. The film tells the true story a heroic man, Hunter ÒPatchÓ Adams, determined to become a medical doctor because he enjoys helping people. He ventured where no doctor had ventured before, using humor and pathos. Unfortunately, not everyone in the medical and scientific community can appreciate his unconventional methods. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Music, Original Musical or Comedy Score.
