Un volume fort in-8° (17, 5 x 24 cm), demi- reliure cuir marron clair à coins, dos à 5 nerfs, avec filets dorés et mentions de l'auteur et du titres dans deux caissons. Ce volume comprend deux textes : le premier compte 190 pages. il concerne des lettres entre Joseph Nicéphore NIÉPCE et son frère Claude qui n'avaient jamais enco…re été publiées in extenso à la date du présent ouvrage. A cette époque, Claude est à PARIS, tentant d'exploiter son invention (le Pyréolophore, une machine permettant de faire avancer un navire sans voile) tandis que Nicéphore est à CHALON-sur SAONE (Saint-Loup) en train de faire des recherches techniques dans diverses directions. Les lettres de Nicéphores vont apporter la preuve qu'il a découvert la photographie dés 1816. Le deuxième texte, (191 pages), intitulé CORRESPONDANCE 1825-1829, regroupe des lettres échangées entre Nicéphore NIÉPCE et les correspondants suivants: V. CHEVALIER, L.J.M. DAGUERRE, F. LEMAITRE, F. BAUER, E. HOME, T. YOUNG, WATKINS, WHEATSTONE, WOLLASTON.L. Elles sont suivies d'une nomenclature des sources manuscrites établie par Pierre G. HARMANT. La fin de ce volume de CORRESPONDANCE se siue en 1829, l'année de la signature d'un "Traité Provisoire" entre NIÉPCE et DAGUERRE. Le Troisième texte concerne donc la Famille NIÉPCE (46 pages), et se termine par un arbre généalogique dépliant. Le Q 4ème évoque la figure de Louis CHEVALIER, qui eût à collaborer avec Nicéphore NIÉPCE pour la babrication d'objectifs (objectifs achromatiques) et collabora également avec DAGUERRE.Notre volume, dans sa rliure moderne mais classique est en TRES BON ETAT.
