These two volumes examine ways in which the health transition in developing countries affects the World Bank's disease control policies. They discuss the public health consequences of individual diseases and disease clusters, measure the cost-effectiveness of disease control methods, and assess what public health problems these conditions pose. Infectious diseases, HIV infection and sexually transmitted diseases, malnutrition, and reproductive health in the developing world are analyzed and tables and figures throughout the text quickly summarize the authors' findings.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Very Good. book.
Cloth. Condition: Good ++. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. 1st Edition 1936. Henry Williamson's Retained File Copy. A number of grammatical and more extensive Annotations in the authors hand throughout the book. Small annotation to the front of the book stating that ' pages torn out by someone who borrowed the book in 1942 didn't like the forward' . Most of the forward has been removed. Missing the original dust jacket but Henry Williamson has used the reverse of a book of Communism as the new jacket and added the words in large red letters 'Authors File Copy March 1936 Stolen from Henry Williamson'. He has also added to the rear wrapper flap the words ' This is a cover of a book on communism? HW having a little joke!?'. Probably one of the most significant books from the authors library as it controversially effected his reputation during and after his lifetime. The books forward that praised Hitler, Fascism and Germany haunted him for the rest of his writing career and still has an effect upon his standing within the literate world today. Also includes an inscribed Henry Williamson Card in the hand that appears to be by Cynthia Mosley quoting Sir Oswald Mosley and a copy of the 1st edition with the original wrapper as a Flax of Dreams reference. From a large collection of Henry Williamson's and his family's books. Includes a specially commissioned small bookplate affixed inside the book confirming this. The book is just about good. The cloth boards are heavily worn in places and rubbed. The internal pages are well-thumbed and with light loss to some especially the early ones. Rear gutter cracked and repaired professionally. The other book is very good and with a very good wrapper. More images can be taken upon request. Ref17753/14310. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Condition: Good. Softcover. Coral (pinkish) coverstock, with black lettering. NASA seal on the front cover. SP-39. Below the printed number is a rubberstamp that says 'Copy No." and the number 12 is written in by hand. 71 pages. Good condition. No ownership names or notes. 12 sections on MR-2 and MA-5 flights. These were the flights where launch conditions were tested on chimpanzees, or, as NASA put it, "Primate suborbital and auto abort." and MA-5, which is "Primate test of Environmental Control System in Orbit." MA-5 contained Enos. MR-2 had Ham aboard. Both chimps survived their missions - Ham lived another 17 years at the Zoo. Enos died in 1962 from an illness unrelated to his participation in the space program. This is the original mission report, not a reprint. One of the first dozen copies. A scarce and fascinating NASA report from very early in the space program. Please email with questions or to request photos.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. In all poor countries, malnutrition and infectious diseases are the major biological processes leading to child deaths, but the social, economic, and environmental determinants of the variations in these conditions in different societies are poorly understood. This 1985 volume contains papers by specialists within the two separate disciplines - demography and epidemiology - primarily concerned with investigating such topics. The overriding objective is to specify the many independent and proximate variables that determine health status and to point out critical interrelationships. The presentations are intended to promote vital policy-relevant research in less-developed countries. This 1985 book examines how in all poor countries, malnutrition and infectious diseases are the major biological processes leading to child deaths. This item is printed on demand.
