Soft cover. Condition: Good. Lehnert & Landrock; Survey of Egypt (illustrator). 1st Edition. Illustrated yellow wraps 12 x 15cm. 109 + (3)pp + 4 b/w photo plates by Lehnert & Landrock (including frontispiece) + 1 plate (illustrations of coins) + folding colour indexed Guide Plan of Cairo by the Survey of Egypt. Dated 1929 from the map, the same year as Baedeker's classic Egypt edition. Like the Baedeker, this also describes the "recent" Tutankhamun excavations. Wraps very good with spotting and a couple of short tears. Pages tanned to edges especially, and gently bumped to corners. Map neatly folded with @10cm tear along panel where it is bound in. Previous owner details to title page (Michael Rix 1946). The Church Missionary Society in Cairo sold its publications along with other guides and local histories through its shop at 7 Sharia Emad Al Dine (advertised here). The author worked for the CMS in Egypt during 1920-51. Rare - traced to 5 institutions including 1 on Copac (OCLC 233858816).
