The title has been handwritten on the new spine. Edges of boards are heavily worn, exposing the underlying cardboard. Crack forming in the back cover. Label on spine, stamps on foredges, and various library markings inside. Text itself unmarked and binding tight. A heavily worn but readable copy. Illustrated with black and white photographs and diagrams.

Typical chapters cover salt, industrial gases, explosives, sulphur and so on, sixteen in all. Dustwrapper complete, clean and sound save several small edge splits and light wear to spine ends. Cloth clean and bright. Previous owners name below wrapper inside sleev and on front endpaper. Contents clean and tight. Nice copy, scarce in this condition. Near fine in VG dustwrapper.
