This book chronicles the history of the First Church of Dunstable (now Nashua, New Hampshire), established by Puritan settlers in the late 17th century. The author delves into the religious, social, and political landscape of early New England, exploring how the principles of the Puritan theocracy influenced the development of the church and the community. Through detailed accounts of the church's early ministers, their interactions with the congregation and the challenges they faced, the book illuminates the dynamic relationship between religion and governance in colonial America. The author also examines the gradual shift towards religious diversity and the rise of new denominations in the 18th and 19th centuries, highlighting the changing nature of religious practice and belief in a growing and evolving nation. This book provides a valuable historical account of the role of religion in American history and a fascinating glimpse into the lives and beliefs of the people who shaped the foundations of New England society.
