Mitchell (1829-1914) was the leading American neurologist of his time and performed over 350 experiments upon the cerebellum. He emphasized its co-ordinating function, first postulated by Flourens, and he proposed his 'augumentor' theory of cerebellar gunction. (G&M 1404). Given as the Presidential Address at the Opening of the Congress of American Physicians and Surgeons, Sept. 23, 1891.

Francois is a choirboy/thief in Paris who with lots of charm and guile lives a life of picking pockets until the Reign of Terror when he by chance meets with the Marquis St. Luce whom he fights crowds with and gets him out of prison to a new life in the countryside and a possible meeting with the Marquis' daughter. A clean very presentable copy.

The corners and spine ends are lightly bumped and have a very small amount of shelf wear; there are two very small marks near the title. The end papers are clean and bright, the frontispiece is of Hugh and Darthea on horse back, the tissue is still attached. The interior is bright with no markings that I could see; Gilt trimmed head with rough cut fore edge.
