Nez was awarded The Congressional Gold Medal. Under his signature Nez has added; "Original 29 1942-1945". Others include Merril L. Sandoval 5th and 2nd Marine Div, Arthur J Hubbard, Bert Tallsalt, Sidney Bedoni, plus another that appears to be in a female hand, under the name is written; Recon Company, 5th or 6th Marine Div, 12-07-02. This children's book portrays the quiet pride of a Navajo code talker as he explains to his grandson how the Navajo language, faith, and ingenuity helped win World War II. Color illustrations by Julia Miner. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.
