It would seem that everything concerning Abraham Lincoln has been discussed in the past, yet the subject matter of this book has never been studied in any detail either in article or book form. This book had its origin due to the author's collecting interests in Civil War soldier's letters. Of the more than 4000 such letters in this collection, many are written on stationary with printed patriotic designs. This includes both the envelopes and the letter paper. A few of these depict Abraham Lincoln, undoubtedly the greatest figure of those turbulent times. It became apparent that Lincoln designs were conceived for a number of different purposes and thus an attempt was started to record all of the types. This book is the result of that project.
