Published "Under Royal Patronage, Added, by command, to the Royal Library", and "may be obtained of J. Rogers, at Raby's, 46 Wigmore Street, Cavendish Square W." With 9 color lithographs showing the correct methods of mounting and riding sidesaddle. Full blue cloth binding with title and illustration embossed in gilt on front board. Edge and corner wear, corners bumped. Some stains from pressed flowers, some light foxing, rear hinge tender. First edition, Mellon/Podeschi catalog 191. The book was written by a woman, for women, motivated by the lack of instruction tailored for women at a time when more women were taking up horseback riding.

Collated, complete.Published simultaneously under this title, and the title 'The Ladies' Equestrian Guide'.Mrs. J. Stirling Clarke offers a delightful instructional work, 'exclusively for the guidance of my own sex', for the aspiring female equestrian.
