Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces a unique framework for understanding and managing rural historic landscapes within the National Park System. It is based on principles, policies, and practices that have been developed for other cultural landscapes, but expands on those concepts to uniquely address rural landscapes, including those that contain cultural resources. The approach taken here relies on landscape architecture, cultural geography, social history, anthropology, and cultural resources management, and combines those perspectives to apply them in new ways to National Park System units. This book seeks not only to define these landscapes and identify the range of components found within them but also to explore the ways in which these components interact and shape the character of these landscapes. Additionally, the book addresses preservation, management, and interpretation of rural landscapes in a manner that supports the purpose of the Park System and responds to the needs of the public and the resources themselves. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. First edition (1978.) Hardcover without dust jacket as issued. 4to with 120pages. Daniel Melnick's small with complements card and letter by him laid in. The previous ownership name stamped in blue on front cover of David Begelman. David Begelman (1921-1995) was an American film producer, film executive and talent agent who was involved in a studio embezzlement scandal in the 1970s. In February 1977, actor Cliff Robertson received a 1099 form from the IRS indicating he had received $10,000 from Columbia Pictures during 1976. He had never received the money, and discovered that his signature on the cashed check had been forged. Robertson's report started a criminal investigation. The LAPD and the FBI verified that the $10,000 check was a forgery, and it was tracked to Begelman. He was ultimately fined and sentenced to community service. Kirk Douglas, in his autobiography The Ragman's Son (1988), wrote of the scandal: "This is the town where Cliff Robertson exposed David Begelman as a forger and a thief, with the net result that Begelman got a standing ovation at a Hollywood restaurant, while Robertson was blacklisted for four years. On the bad days, you think of what Tallulah Bankhead said: "Who do I have to f**k to get out of this business?" The book is in very good condition. Interior is clean and tight. Creams spine/no text. #034599 Size: 4to. Hollywood Memorabilia.
