Exhibition catalog for the first major retrospective exhibition at the "Galerie im Erker" in St. Gallen from April 8 to May 27, 1967. The catalog opens with twenty-eight pages of an illustrated history of Max Bill's work and biographical data, starting with an b/w photograph of an electrical samovar made of brass in 1925 up to his participation in the exhibition "dix ans d'art vivant 1955-65" at the Fondation Maeght St. Paul in 1967. Illustrations are printed to glossy paper. Asides of the thumbnail b/w photographs of Max Bill's work at front the catalog contains twelve full page photographs of Bill's work, two of them in color, and contributions on Bill and his work by Will Grohmann, Max Bense on 'aspects of Hegel in an exhibition of Max Bill' and a contribution by Bill himself, a transcript of Bill's answer to the question 'how will art look like in the year 2000?' spoken for the radio and television department of the Swiss State Exhibition in Lausanne in 1964. The typography of the catalog was design by Max Bill. Text in German. Wraps with light foxing and lightly rubbed. Interior in fine condition.
