Original Wraps. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Chief aim is to encourage people to look at and photograph the city of Belfast, being firmly of the belief that it is one of the most interesting cities in the world. Contains photos of Belfast by the author, for example "The Scenic Route from School, Moyard", and other striking photographs shot in the city by non-professionals including Áine McMurrough, Dermot McIlroy, Roisin Curran, Danny Burke, Billy Murphy, Chris Lees, Sean McKernan, Chuck McAteer, Brian McLaughlin, Sean McCaffrey, Gerry Downes and in particular Frankie Quinn. 72 pages.
Tuohy draws on archive material and the memories of supporters and players in this history of the successful West Belfast club. They were League Champions 14 times between 1891 and 1949 but withdrew from the Irish league and disbanded at the end of the 1948-9 season. This decision was a response to the 1948 Boxing Day riot in which Celtic players we set upon by Linfield supporters with many of them badly injured, including Jimmy Jones who had his leg broken and was unconcious when rescued from the midst of the mob. Reprint. Paperback. small 8vo. 82pp. Text illustrations. Laminated paper wrappers. Very good condition.
