This book comprises a thorough examination of the array of titles used by Roman emperors and their significance in the context of the Roman Empire. It offers a systematic analysis of these titles, identifying and elucidating their political, military, religious, civic, and honorific meanings. The author provides historical insights into the evolution and significance of each title, situating them within the broader framework of Roman history. Their usage is explored to trace the development of the Roman Empire from its regal beginnings through the Republic and into the Imperial period. The book examines the transformations in the titles employed by Roman emperors, mirroring the shift in their roles from military leaders to absolute rulers. Ultimately, this book enriches our understanding of the complex political and cultural dynamics that shaped the Roman Empire, offering a comprehensive guide to the titles and their bearers, fundamental to this fascinating period of history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
