Mallory disappeared on Everest in 1924; the clothing found on him when he was discovered in 1999 was partly returned to the UK, where it was researched by Mike Parsons - an equipment supplier to modern mountaineering expeditions - and Professor Rose. Their Mallory Clothing Replica Project (2002-6) saw them develop and then test replica clothes to determine whether they would have equipped Mallory to make a summit assault.
