Paperback. 328p., introduction, foreword, ten short plays, essay, playwright bio, b&w production photos fine first edition trade paperback original in pictorial wraps. MacLean was a driving force in Black Box alternative & gay theatre in Los Angeles in the 1970s-80s: a member of the playwright's workshop at Los Angeles Actors Theatre (LAAT) and the house playwright at the Deja Vu Coffeehouse. His work has been performed at La Mama, Hollywood, LAAT, Changing Scene in Denver, the Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville where his play "Hayaena" was a hit, and Theatre for the New City, NYC. Two of the plays included "Fourplay" and "Nelson Americana" were noted in Furtado & Hellner's "Gay and Lesbian American Plays: annotated bibliography" His humorous essay at the back of the book, "The Advent and Art of the One-Line Play" is alone well-worth the price of admission. As are the author photos featuring a perfect porn-stache wearing the face of the author at 20 something and 40 years later!
