Condition: Very Good. Edito Novissimo. Volume 1 of 3 ONLY. Written entirely in Latin. Also contains names of Franciscan martyrs. "Latest edition", title page loosely translated into English: "Writers of the Order of Minors to Whom the Syllabus of Those Who From the Same Order Died Strongly for the Faith of Christ. The former asserted the Christian religion with ink, the latter with blood. He reviewed Fr. Luke Wadding Theologian of the same institute. Latest edition. Rome, 1006. Editor Dr. Attilio Nardecchia, Dell University Road, 42-43." Bound in half tan leather and milk-chocolate brown cloth with gilt lining at the seams. Hubbed spine bears five raised bands and two black leather labels stamped in gilt lettering. Dual columned. 243 pp. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: "Luke Wadding (1588-1657), was an Irish Franciscan friar and historian. [.] Wadding founded the Pontifical Irish College for Irish secular clergy. [.] Through his efforts, St. Patrick's Day became a feast day. [.] A voluminous writer, his chief work was the Annales Minorum in 8 folio volumes (1625?1654), re-edited in the 18th century and continued up to the year 1622; it is the classical work on Franciscan history. He published also a Bibliotheca of Franciscan writers, an edition of the works of Duns Scotus, and the first collection of the writings of St Francis of Assisi." (Wikipedia). CONDITION: Ex-library with typical library spoor, including card in pocket on the front flyleaf. Moderate external wear. Hinges are strong and binding is quite sound. Unmarked except for library markings and bracketed notation in pencil at the head of the title page. A very nice, solid copy, sturdy for intense study. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size and weight of this copy, an additional shipping charge will likely apply and will be requested after purchase. Full refund if not satisfied.
