New York: Hippocampus Press:, 2020. First edition, TPBO, Trade paperback, New, 544 pp. "Rheinhart Kleiner was one of H. P. Lovecraft's oldest colleagues, having come into epistolary contact with him in 1915. These two amateur journalists were both devoted to poetry, and their extensive discussions of verse writing provide glimps…es into Lovecraft's extensive poetry writing during his early years in the amateur journalism movement. Lovecraft also wrote a long autobiographical letter to Kleiner in 1916, supplying little-known details about his ancestry, early life, and writings. Other correspondents in this volume shed further light into Lovecraft's wide-ranging involvement with amateur journalism. Arthur Harris was a Welsh amateur publisher with whom Lovecraft stayed in touch for nearly the entirety of his adult life. James Larkin Pearson was a poet who asked for Lovecraft's assistance in the compilation of his poetical works. Paul J. Campbell was a longtime amateur writer and editor who was associated with W. Paul Cook. Having lost a leg through an accident, he founded the Fraternity of the Wooden Leg. This volume also contains some intriguing letters with Winifred Virginia Jackson, with whom Lovecraft seems to have carried on a sporadic romance around 1920. In addition, there are a small batch of letters and postcards to Arthur Leeds, one of the lesser-known members of the Kalem Club." This is a print-on-demand edition. First edition, TPBO, Trade paperback, New.

Condition: Trade paperback, New. New York: Hippocampus Press:, 2020. Trade paperback, New, 498 pp. "Cole introduced Lovecraft to John T. Dunn, a young man in the Providence area who helped to found the Providence Amateur Press Club. Dunn, as an outspoken Irish-American, clashed with Lovecraft repeatedly on the question of Irish…independence. Some years later, Lovecraft became acquainted with Alfred Galpin, who proved to be a prodigy in the realms of literature, philosophy, and music. Their correspondence also lasted for decades and contains some of Lovecraft's most profound discussions of weird fiction, materialism, atheism, and other subjects. . Throughout these letters, Lovecraft reveals himself to be learned, courteous, patient, and at times outspoken, revealing many sides of his personality not always visible in his weird fiction. The letters have been thoroughly annotated, and a great deal of ancillary material by the correspondents in question has been supplied." This is a print-on-demand edition.

Condition: Trade paperback, New. New York: Hippocampus Press:, 2019. Trade paperback, New, 377 pp. Cover artwork by: Daniel Sauer "H. P. Lovecraft's letters are among the most remarkable literary documents of their time, and they are a major reason why he has become such an icon in contemporary culture. In this new edition, the…editors have updated all references to current editions of his work and also exhaustively revised their notes and commentary. Lovecraft wrote tens of thousands of letters, some of them of great length; but more than that, these letters are incredibly revelatory in the depth of detail they provide for all aspects of his life, work, and thought. This volume, first published in 2000, assembles generous extracts of Lovecraft's letters covering the entirety of his life, from childhood until his death. He tells of his youthful interests (poetry, Greco-Roman mythology, science), his childhood friends, and the 'blank' period of 1908-13, after he dropped out of high school. He emerged from his hermitry in 1914 by joining the amateur journalism movement, where he became a leading figure and was involved in numerous literary and personal controversies. In 1921 Lovecraft became acquainted with Sonia Greene, whom he would marry in 1924. By that time, he had begun publishing in the pulp magazine Weird Tales. But his marriage was a failure: living in New York, he was unable find a job and found the teeming city so different from the tranquility of his native Providence, R.I. Returning home in 1926, he embarked on a tremendous literary outburst, and over the next ten years wrote many of the stories that have ensured his literary immortality." This is a print-on-demand edition. Daniel Sauer (illustrator).
