unbound. SULMAN, Thomas (illustrator). View. Wood engraving with hand coloring. Page measures 22 7/8" x 57 3/4" Beautiful woodcut panorama view of London. Incredibly detailed, showing buildings, canals, bridges, roads, and parks. Published as a supplement to The Illustrated London News, February 9, 1861. Three folds as issued. Minor wear to margins, faint overall foxing, and a stain to upper left quadrant. The Illustrated London News (1842-1971) was the first illustrated news magazine. It reported on British and world events including news of war, art, science, disaster etc. Although the publication ceased in 2003, the company exists today as Illustrated London News Ltd., a publishing, content and digital agency.
