Very small tears at top & bottom of spine. Corners of covers a little worn. Still a Very Good copy. First Edition. Pencil signature of former owner on verso of front flyleaf: "Grace Hutchins/ February 1907/ Bryn Mawr". Her pencil notes in the margins are on pp. 2, 3, 24, 25, 27, 31, 32, 33, 35, 47, 48, 64, 66, 69, 70, 71, 72, 84, 89, 90, 92, 98, 179, 193, 220. There is a substantial Wikipedia article about Grace Hutchins, and there are two biographies of Hutchins and her partner of 40 years Anna Rochester (Janet Lee, Comrades and Partners: The Shared Lives of Grace Hutchins and Anna Rochester; Julia M. Allen, Passionate Commitments: The Lives of Anna Rochester and Grace Hutchins). NOTE: If you do not care about Hutchins, there are inexpensive copies of this book for sale online.
