No defects noted to this book with text pages bright, tight, and white. The Special Studies Division, Office, Chief of Military History, Department of the Army, is presently (1954) preparing a series of studies dealing with recurrent problems, such as mobilization, demobilization, replacement system, etc., which will always be of interest to the Army. The "Personnel Replacement System in the United States Army" is one of these projects. It was undertaken in keeping with the Army's policy of exploiting all historical data that may be of practical value. The studies are being made available to the General Staff and to the Army schools and colleges as reference works. They will also prove of value to all who are interested in military affairs. Events -move swiftly and this document, which does not include replacement problems beyond the end of World War II, already is merely background for events that followed that conflict. In the field of replacements, as in other military activity, developments are continuous, and another study will be needed to determine the lessons of the Korean operations.…

As new condition black boards with gold spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped photographic dust jacket. Includes Author Dedication; Introduction; Conclusion; Acknowledgments; Notes and Index. "Anyone who would lower military standards out of political correctness ought to study the Marines' combat experiences. Deadly Consequences is a devastating rejoinder to the notion that equality rather than combat effectiveness should dictate personnel decisions. Americans must listen to our warriors, not feminists, when deciding who should fight America's wars." - Major General James E. Livingston, U.S. Marine Corps, Ret., Medal of Honor recipient. "Deadly Consequences exposes the cowardice of silence among America's political and military elite who are willing to sacrifice America's women on the altar of political correctness. Bob Maginnis's no-nonsense, fact-based presentation of history, science, and military experience is utterly compelling." - Lieutenant General William G. "Jerry" Boykin (U.S. Army, Ret.), former commander of Special Forces Command and the Green Berets and former deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence. "The mission of the United States military is to fight and win our nation's wars. The mission of the individual combat warrior is to close with and destroy the enemy in violent action. As George Orwell observed, we sleep peaceably at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf. Robert Maginnis details how misguided social egalitarianism driven by a radical, politically correct, ideological agenda threatens the national security of the United States. It is a must read." - Lieutenant Colonel Allen B. West (U.S. Army, Ret.), former member of Congress. "Everything you've heard about women in combat is wrong. The U.S. armed forces are facing a threat to their ability to defend this country as serious as any since Pearl Harbor. But this one comes from their own commander in chief. In January 2013, the Obama administration announced its intention to assign women to ground combat units. This decision to violate a virtually universal principle of military practice represents our craven military leadership's surrender to the political forces of radical feminism. The implications for U.S. national security are sobering. Robert L. Maginnis, a military analyst and retired lieutenant colonel, shows how the decision to put women in combat contradicts centuries of military experience, medical science, and common sense. It is the result of feminist ideology run amok. Addressing all the familiar arguments for putting women in combat, Colonel Maginnis shows cearly and convincingly that none of them can withstand scrutiny. In Deadly Consequences, you'll learn: Why only a tiny fraction of military women are interested in combat duty; How our government arrived at a policy that only a few years ago was unthinkable; Why the Pentagon's assurances that military readiness will not be compromised are laughably implausible; Why the generals and admirals responsible for facing down America's global enemies surrendered to feminist ideologues without a fight; About the horrifying reality of ground combat and its extraordinary physical demands, even in an age of mechanized warfare; How physical standards for frontline combat duty will be dangerously compromised; Why America's young women are certain to be subjected to the draft. The people who are pushing women into combat fall into three categories - feminists for whom military effectiveness is less important than ideology, egalitarians who are ignorant of the realities of direct ground combat, and cowards who know better but won't risk their careers by speaking up. They all have one thing in common, however - they are complicit in the real "war against women." There is only a little time left for Americans to wake up. What kind of country sends its women into combat? Are we that kind of country?" - from the jacket flaps.…
