Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Condition: Fair. The Hundred Best Pictures is an art book arranged and edited by C. Hubert Letts (Charles Hubert Letts, 1874-1956). The Hundred Best Pictures was compiled from lists suggested by various artists and critics, then arranged and edited by C. Hubert Letts. The reproductions were made from negatives taken directly from the original masterpieces and printed in photogravure — a process the publisher touted as "the only process giving perfectly the very touch of the artist's brush." It presents 100 of the most famous paintings from the galleries of London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Windsor, Oxford, Paris, Antwerp, Rome, Berlin, Dresden, Venice, Madrid, Milan, and leading private collections. The pictures are organised into the following categories: Classical Art · Historical · Genre · Sacred · Myth and Legend · Animal · Landscape · Seascape · Portraits and Head Studies. This copy of The Hundred Best Pictures is the American publication rather than the London edition. It has 210 pages and contains all 17 parts of the series. It still has all of the 100 plates attached to the pages, which are all in really good condition. The condition of the book overall is decent, but it has to be listed as "Fair" because it's structure has deteriorated over time, and several of the early pages were becoming loose from the spine, and they have been gently and carefully reattached using tape to solidify the book. This has not taken away anything from the text and the actual plates, which are all in good shape. A few of the pages are a little ragged around the edges. See photos.…
