Green cloth binding rubbed at extremities; boards lightly smudged; owner's stamp on font endpaper; paste-downs a bit scuffed; binding cracked at one point in textblock; 1" chip to fore-edge of front endpaper; leaf edges, endpapers foxed/smudged, else a nice copy. 1st edition (Smith L-212). 348, [2 (blank)] pp. B/w inserted plates of illustrations by Bracker. 7-5/8" x 5-1/4" Average wear to binding (rubbed edges, age-toning to endpapers). Previous owner's stamp to title leaf. DJ severely chipped and soiled, now housed in mylar DJ protector. A VG copy in a Good DJ. Maroon cloth binding, white stamped lettering to spine and cover. White pictorial DJ.

Slight binding defect: title pg & frontis. pasted too closely together, so appx. 1/4-inch of right edge of frontis. plate obscured. Binding staples visible at front & rear; front board very slightly loose. Contents age-toned but clean, binding tight. 348 pp. + publisher's list.
