Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with a lengthy piece/interview with Eldridge Cleaver and Timothy Leary, regarding the Black Panther Party in Algeria placing Timothy Leary under house arrest after his fleeing the US, most of this a transcription of a tape sent by Eldridge Cleaver; an article on a rally of militant Chicanos protesting in LA that resulted in police violence; underground comix by Gilbert Shelton and others; an analysis of Marxism and urban guerrilla warfare; an article by the Mad Funk Collective of Tucson on the rioting of streetpeople in that city; a piece by Kathryn Paulsen on magic powers and witchcraft, etc. GOOD condition.
