The speech promoted the advantages of the state for immigration. General information on Texas to include population, size, crops, livestock, landscape, etc. followed by sections on coal, the social and economic conditions, its railroad, etc. Herd 1305 says "Rare." Eberstadt 522 says: "Much on the cattle industry and on Texas as a Land of Lawlessness." Covers lightly soiled, a small closed tear to the fore-edge of the front cover and two tiny nicks to the fore-edge of the rear cover, as well as 3" split at spine. Internally clean and tight. A very good copy. "This first edition of 19 pages is not frequently encountered. It contains much on the cattle industry." Eberstadt. "Rare. It was later enlarged and reissued by the South-Western Immigration Company, Austin, Texas, in an edition of 62 pages and with a frontispiece." Not in Graff or Decker.

[TEXAS]. 8vo. Original decorated wrappers, 61 [1] pp., double column, index. 65.8cm x 60.2 cm finely colored, Map of the Southwest. The map depicts Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Indian Territory, showing counties, cities, rivers, railroads, etc. plus insets of statistics. Statistics of Texas include crops, education, school and charity endowments, lands for sale, etc. Similar type statistics appear for both Arkansas and Louisiana. Six Guns 1278 says "Rare." "Part of this paper deals with lawlessness in Texas. Some issues do not include the map." Herd 1305 says "Rare." The company was organized by the railroads to promote immigration to Texas. Printed in double columns and loaded with information and statistics. The rear wrapper denotes that B. G. Duval, Secretary of the company resides in Austin, Texas, and WM. W. Lang, the President, resides in London, England. Covers lightly soiled, internally clean and tight, else a near fine copy housed in a cloth, four-point, clamshell case with a leather label on the spine and titles stamped in gold gilt. The superb map is in fine condition and will be packed and shipped separately.
