First Edition. gilt titles spine; tissue-guarded b/w. frontis illust. plus 15 further b/w. ills.; an erudite & useful book dealing with, not only every aspect of technique in the oil painting of landscapes, but also the history of this subject; the education, life & status of the artist together with the advantages & drawbacks incident to an artist's life & even a chapter of advice from proffessionals on 'things to be avoided'; school prize label inside front cover; a couple of marks to front cover (water splashes?) have caused fading to colour but the contents are clean & the book in sound condition; including index - 305 pages. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. xii + 305 pages. 6 x 9 1/4 in. 15 Illustrations. Red cloth binding, gilt lettering on spine. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD: light wear to covers heavier at spine ends, spine and upper edge of covers highly faded, light soiling to covers, top edge of text block darkened, edges of text block and first and last few pages lightly foxed, end papers and frontis tissue tanned, pages clean, binding tight.
