Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1st printing of the first Canadian hardcover edition of the author's 2nd book SIGNED by the late Robert Kroetsch on the title page with a blue ballpoint pen. No authorial inscription or markings by a previous owner or retailer. Black cloth boards with red… cloth binding and red endpapers and top exposed page edges stained red. A very well-preserved example of a novel that is a staple of any collection of Canadian fiction. This copy is tight with sharp corners and spine ends. The page edges are tanned. Minor wear resulting in colour loss to the bottom edge of the front and back boards, at the corners. The jacket is complete, price intact and uniformly tanned. There is a puncture with associated wrinkles buried in the middle of the back fold, so the blemish is unobtrusive. Red colour from the binding has been transferred to the jacket along the bottom edge of the back flap and to the reverse side of the jacket along the top edge of the front flap. Rubbing along the edge of the binding is visible on the front panel of the jacket, and there are two short, tight vertical creases running south from the top edge of the front panel.
