Condition: Sehr gut. 1. 256 S. Gebrauchtes Exemplar in sehr gutem Zustand. KEINE Eintragungen/Markierungen. The Destruction of Bronze Bells in Saxony during World War I] This year sees the 100th anniversary of the seizure and destruction of bronze bells belonging to some 43,000 Catholic and Protestant churches, town halls, manors, schools, and factory buildings in the German Empire as well as to almost all churches of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. With this savage act against culture the continuation of the disastrous World War I should be secured. Instead of 3, 4 or more most churches in the German Empire only retained one bell, usually the smallest one. None of the national churches of the German Protestant Church have so far fully come to terms with this topic. For Saxony this gap is closed. This book also is the insistent exhortation to constantly champion and pray for the maintenance of peace. This is how the inscription according to the Gospel of Luke 2:14, cast on so many of the bells that were destroyed to kill during the World Wars, can have a chance: »Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.«.
