Taking advantage of the brief respite during which they were not serving in the same chain of command, Geary has apparently married his flag captain, Tanya Desjani, though they still occupy separate quarters and -- unless we missed it -- never so much as touch each other. Now, we neither expected nor seek any outright pornography, but since even PRISONERS are allowed conjugal visits, we can only attribute this reticence to author Campbell/Hemry's discomfort with writing "romance." This series is so far not the equal of either David Weber's Honor Harrington series. nor his newer "Ascent to Empire," though we do rank it above Richard Fox's "Exiled Fleet."
