The author's second novel "in the great tradition" of his first, The Horse Is Dead. A film adaptation appeared in the same year as the novel, starring George Segal and directed by Carl Reiner. However, Klane was still eighteen years away from producing his chef d'oeuvre, the screenplay for Weekend at Bernie's.
