Published in 1869, this is the First Edition of this work of Heraldry & Genealogy interest, Shropshire Peers and families, bound in the original green cloth titled in gilt to the upper cover, a small slim format measuring 7 inches by 4.5 inches approx., over 100 pages, not illustrated. The book has the armorial bookplate and signature of a former owner, R. Ruston James to front endpapers. Covers have some mild edge wear rubbing else in good condition, internally noticeable foxing to opening and closing few pages, else in good condition.

Hardback. Condition: Good +. Green cloth over boards with gilt titling to front board. Pages have tanning to edges, but are otherwise unmarked. Endpages have pencil markings and soiling to top edge of front endpapers, previous owner's sticker to lower edge of pastedowns, and first free endpaper has torn from binding but still holds near top edge. Text block is sunned with light foxing to fore edge and light soiling to top edge. Boards have light scattered soiling and rubbing to edges, chipping to ends of spine and one chip along spine edge, and sunning to spine; rubbing and bumping to corners and ends of spine. Binding is tight, front board bows slightly.
