Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The V-2 missile was the precursor to ballistic missiles and was widely used by Germany during the latter stages of World War II, particularly against Great Britain and Belgium.- The acronym V-2 stands for Vergeltungswaffe 2, (retaliatory weapon 2 in German, an idea of Joseph Goebbels for propaganda purposes). The missile was designated by its designers as A4 (Aggregat 4): as early as 1927, members of the German Society began the first tests on liquid-fueled rockets. In 1932, the Reichswehr (German National Defense) became interested in the development of these tests especially for the military sector, and a team led by General Walter Dornberger was very impressed by the test of a launcher designed and built by Wernher von Braun.- The A-4/V-2 missile was uninterceptable.- A weapon against which there was no defense. To date, only a deployment of Patriots or SA-10s could parry an attack, and at enormous cost, against what was an ancestor of the current Scuds, similar in performance and warhead but more precise and half the weight. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. New edition completely revised and updated. A single-engine, single-seater of American manufacture, it was used by the Allies as a fighter or fighter-bomber in many of the theaters in which the Second World War was fought.- The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was the third most produced fighter aircraft by the United States during the Second World War, after the P-51 and the P-47. Produced by Curtiss-Wright of Buffalo, as a linear-engine version of the previous Curtiss P-36 Hawk, with a star engine, it was not an exceptional aircraft, mainly due to the engine, not very powerful at high altitude. However, it was still built in large numbers, and its remarkable robustness, combined with its wide availability from the first months after the United States entered the war, made it one of the most important fighters for the American Air Force between 1941 and the summer of 1943.The versions supplied to the US armed forces, USAAC and, later, USAAF, were known as: - Hawk 81, up to the P-40E.- Warhawk, from the P-40F onwards. Those delivered to the Commonwealth countries, under Lend-Lease agreements were known as: - Tomahawk, equivalent to the P-40A, B and C versions.- Kittyhawk, equivalent to the P-40D and later versions. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The Supermarine Spitfire is probably the most famous aircraft of the Second World War.It is one of the very few aircraft, perhaps the only one, whose name evokes some images even to a layman of historical aviation things. This aircraft is an air legend, a true brand, and its image is inextricably linked to the British victory in the Battle of Britain.Used by the air forces of numerous allied countries such as the Soviet Union, Australia and the United States of America, it was the only allied fighter produced for the entire duration of the war.The Spitfire is not a single aircraft with various modifications and improvements, but a real family of aircraft that has covered a bit of all roles and has adapted to no less than 10 years of technological evolution, from the first Spitfires with their 1,000 hp Merlin engines and two-bladed propellers, to the latest with the Griffons of over 2,000 hp and 5-bladed metal propellers or even two counter-rotating three-bladed ones. Each version was distinguished by the wording Mk. (from the English Mark, model, type) followed by a Roman numeral, up to version 20, and by Arabic numerals for the subsequent ones, as in the post-war period the RAF changed its designation criteria. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Nuova edizione interamente riveduta e aggiornata. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback.
