Softcover. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket As Issued. First Edition; First Printing. Robert E. Howard could not have known, when he took his own life in 1936 at the age of 30, what an impact his stories about Conan, beginning with a short story People of the Dark that featured a black-haired barbarian. Howard wrote 21 stories, but the Conan universe has expanded greatly over the years. Howard set his stories in the legendary Hyborian Age, set between the destruction of Atlantis and the beginning of recorded history. Conan is a Cimmerian, who are descendants of the Atlanteans and ancestors of the modern Gaels. Conan is himself a descendant of Kull of Atlantis (an earlier adventurer of Howard's). He was born on a battlefield and raised by his father, a blacksmith. This rough description became the basis for dozens of novels, short stories and movies. We are offering the Tor Books, a divison of Tom Doherty Associates books, Conan library, 42 paperback volumes, all but two are first printings. Overall conditon VG to VG-, beginning with Conan the Invincible in 1979 and ending with Conan and the Death Lord of Thanza in 1997. Seven writers contributed to this series. These volumes were carefully collected by a single collector. Some have stamp from a bookstore in Atlanta. I do not see notes or other writing in the books. And these are not all the Conan books we will be offering, so keep watching on out website. I will be glad to send additional photos. The ones I have inclued are of the spines, pretty much in order of publication.; Cover Illustrations; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; varied pages Very Good No dust jacket as issued.
