Trade Paperback. Condition: New. Reprint. 176 pages. Reprinted directly from the Pennsylvania Archives, a treasure chest of early records of that area. And for the first time an every name index! Rev. Waldschmidt's entries, which pertain to the congregations of Cocalico (Swamp), Weiseichenland (formerly Sebastian Reicher's Church), Modecreek, and Zeltenreich, are arranged in four separate alphabetical groupings. The first part, baptismal records, gives the name of the child, parents' names, date of birth and date of baptism, and the names of sponsors. Marriages come next, and they state the name of the bride and groom, the date of the marriage, and, frequently, the name(s) of the parents. Each marriage is listed twice, alphabetically according to the surname of both the bride and groom. The third section of the book lists the various communion services performed by Rev. Waldschmidt, with the names of the communicants. Finally, a separate listing of brides and grooms from official Pennsylvania marriage licenses signed by the pastor between 1784-1786 concludes the volume.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Three-quarters leather with marbleized boards and page edges. The spine has gilt lettering and the binding is clean and tight. The first volume details Dauphin County history from the Indigenous tribes who lived there to the early 1900s. The second volume covers the city of Harrisburg and typed versions of primary source writings from William Penn, along with stories about the town from residents and accounts of various historical events including the burning of the Capitol and building of the new one, among many others.The book also includes church records and a myriad of quantitative data regarding the county, including church records and military rolls, along with writings about the fire department, post office, and other city institutions. The second volume also covers the Civil War. Each book has a fold-out map and many illustrations. The fold-out map in the first volume is one of Camp George Gordon Meade near Middletown, PA. from 1898. The map in the second volume shows Harrisburg city. This map is torn, but repairable.
