Fold out pages in back describe photographs which are in black and white and color. Many of the 223 photographs are full page. An exceptional travelogue. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit environmental restoration and education.

Der Regisseur Vladimír Sís (1925-2001) und der Kameramann Josef Vani (1927-2009) wurden im Jahre 1953 vom "Tschecheslowakischen Armeefilm" nach China geschickt, um dort einen Dokumentarfilm über den Bau der Straße von der Provinz Szetschuan bis in die Hauptstadt Tibets zu drehen. Während der Dreharbeiten mit der Filmkamera haben sie zwischen 1954 und 55 auch Hunderte von Fotoaufnahmen gemacht. Undated but circa 1955, with 64 full color and 160 fascinating black & white images of a Tibet now changed. The journals and photos of Vladimir Sis inspired his son, the world-renowned illustrator and author Peter Sis and influenced his book "Tibet, Through the Red Box." FINE, in tan cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and design, pages are clean and bright, in VERY GOOD dust jacket with moderate edge wear and minor chipping, dustjacket now protected in archival mylar.
