Businger 1764 in Stans geboren, gestorben 1836 in Luzern. Schulen in Bischofszell, Einsiedeln, Luzern, Solothurn und Pruntrut (Musik). 1787 Priesterweihe, 1788 Kaplan in Stans. Als Anhänger der Helvetik verliess er am 31.3.1798 Stans und wurde helvetischer Archivar in Aarau. Nach der französischen Intervention in Nidwalden wurde B. im Oktober zum Pfarrer von Stans ernannt, um hier zu vermitteln. 1799 übernahm er von Pestalozzi das Waisenhaus. Da ihn seine Landsleute weiterhin ablehnten, zog er 1803 nach Luzern, wo er dank Einkünften aus einem preussischen Ehrenkanonikat in Grossglogau als Privatgelehrter wirkte. Zeitlebens unterstützte er eine liberale Schulpolitik.
