Jonathan Swift is well known for works such as A Tale of a Tub (1704), An Argument Against Abolishing Christianity (1712), Gulliver's Travels (1726), and A Modest Proposal (1729).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Name to front flyleaf, fine thereafter. No textual markings or annotations. Light tanning to the page block, edges dusted. Unclipped dust jacket. General edge wear and chipping, with a short closed tear to the spine bottom back edge (approx. 2cm), else age-toning (heavy to the spine) and light shelf-marking only. (Now in a protective archival cover.) Green cloth with gilt titling to the spine (the titling is dulled but perfectly legible). The boards remain sound and secure, BUT show notable staining to the front and the back. In sum: a very good reading or study copy, under an essentially complete dust jacket. Edited with an Introduction and Notes by Herbert Davis ('Tracts') and Louis Landa ('Sermons'). Frontis, xxx, 386pp.

1957. (Hardcover) Very good, no dust jacket. 309pp. Green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. Top edge stained green, appendices, notes. The spine and corners are lightly bumped and worn and there is a previous owner's name on the front free endpaper. "My Lord, What I had the Honour of mentioning to your Lordship some Time ago in Conversation, was not a new Thought, just then started by Accident or Occasion, but the Result of long Reflection; and I have been confirmed in my Sentiments by the Opinion of some very judicious Persons, with whom I consulted" - from the text. All have dust jackets except volume 1. A complete set, including the Index and the two volumes of"Journal to Stella" published subsequently.
