Staplebound wraps. Condition: Good. Presumed First Edition, First printing. [4], 7, [1] pages. Some sheets printed on both sides. John R. Neighbours produced this report for Dimitris Papaconstantopoulos and Barry Klein. This report was issued for information purposes on the understanding that it was not a part of the scientific literature and would not be cited, abstracted or reprinted. The document had been approved for public release. This type of report was produced more promptly than were the official proceedings. This type of document was very ephemeral and few survived more than a few months after the events described. This report covers the conference on transition metals held in Leeds on 18-22 August 1980. Subjects covered were band theory, ferromagnetism, ultrasonic attenuation, neutron scattering, magnetism, Fermi surfaces, positron annihilation, lattice dynamics and heats of formation. the meeting included 29 invited papers and over 100 contributed poster sessions and a panel discussion on magnetism in metals.…

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating realm of Cerenkov radiation, a physical phenomenon observed when charged particles traverse a medium faster than the speed of light. The author presents a comprehensive theoretical framework and experimental observations of microwave Cerenkov radiation, providing valuable insights into its characteristics, emission patterns, and applications. Through detailed analysis and experimentation, the book elucidates the interplay between charged particle dynamics, electromagnetic waves, and the dielectric properties of the medium. This exploration sheds light on the fundamental physics governing Cerenkov radiation, its potential as a diagnostic tool, and its broader implications in fields such as particle accelerators and astrophysics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces and analyses the theme of Cerenkov radiation, a physical effect in which accelerated charged particles emit energy as electromagnetic radiation. The author provides a detailed explanation of the science behind this radiation, first discovered by the Soviet physicist Pavel Alekseyevich Cerenkov in 1934. Cerenkov radiation is a captivating natural phenomenon, occurring when charged particles surpass the speed of light in a transparent medium. The author covers the mathematical and theoretical foundations of Cerenkov radiation, encompassing topics like relativistic electron beams, radiation from pulsed electron beams and the implications of finite-length beams on radiation output. This book is a valuable resource for physicists, engineers, and scientists seeking to deepen their understanding of Cerenkov radiation, its applications, and its significance in various fields of research and technology. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the emission of Cherenkov radiation, a phenomenon that occurs when charged particles move within certain materials. Through detailed analysis, the author demonstrates the influence of beam length on both the angular distribution of this radiation and the beam energy required to produce it, thereby expanding our understanding of Cerenkov radiation's characteristics and behavior. The author delves into the transition from the classical Cerenkov effect to the sub-threshold regime, providing a comprehensive examination of the emergence of Cerenkov radiation. This work contributes to the field of particle physics, offering valuable insights into the nature and properties of Cherenkov radiation, which holds significant implications for our understanding of charged particle interactions with matter. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating world of Cerenkov radiation, a luminous phenomenon emitted when charged particles travel faster than the speed of light in a medium. It explores the intricate relationship between the radiation's intensity, its angular distribution, and the characteristics of the charged particles and the medium they traverse. The author elucidates the theoretical foundations of Cerenkov radiation, tracing its historical evolution from its initial discovery to its contemporary applications. Through in-depth analysis and experimental observations, the book uncovers the subtle effects of beam path length, particle energy, and medium properties on the radiation's behavior. Beyond its theoretical exposition, the book also examines the practical implications of Cerenkov radiation in various fields of science and technology. It sheds light on its applications in particle accelerators, medical imaging, and astrophysical observations. By exploring the diverse applications of Cerenkov radiation, the book highlights its significance as a valuable tool for scientific research and technological advancements. This book is an indispensable resource for physicists, engineers, and researchers seeking a comprehensive understanding of Cerenkov radiation. Its insightful exploration of the subject's theoretical underpinnings and practical applications makes it an invaluable addition to the scientific literature. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
