A heavy, very well-made book bound in green cloth textured to look like leather (leatherette), with elegant stamped gold lettering on the front and spine. The book itself is flawless and appears unread, collector and gift quality. The dustjacket shows only extremely brief, very occasional and faint signs of use at the edges, the corners, and the spine ends, but the jacket has no significant flaws, and in most respects appears as Fine. The book itself is very clean, stain-free, square and straight, extremely firm and tight in its binding, with no pages loose, missing, folded or torn. The hinges are sound and undamaged, the corner points are sharp and unbumped. The pages are clean, clear, and unsmudged, still bright and white, and all text is sharp and very legible. Although this is a small book (121 pages), it is absolutely packed with information, photos and drawings. The author was clearly a man of great energy, and not only has he written a detailed history of the doctors, nurses and hospitals of the Mahoning Valley, with plenty of group photos for thoses in search of an ancestor, bur he also includes snippets of broader medical history, including many pictures of devices from the Victorian age such as cupping pumps and ear trumpets. There is just a bit of light soil on the paper covers.
