I have tried several times to write the story of the Audubon Caper, but it always falls flat. It makes a good tale when told, especially since it grows each time in the telling, but is apparently not susceptible to being written." Signed "John". An anthology of several of Jenkins's annual Christmas "offerings" sent to friends and customers over the previous decade. The subtitle "Confessions of a Texas Bookmaker" is something of a black joke, as Jenkins was heavily implicated in the "Texfake" scandal of forged historical ephemera in the late 1980s.
