First Edition, Thus. 728 pages, plus 14 plates (of which 13 are colored) after J. Keulemans, H. Gronvold, and others. Text block with a couple of cracks, though still holding tight. Vertical tear down the center of the cloth spine cover. Cloth covers are lightly soiled and there is a little additional wear at crown. End leaves are a little darkened, and there is an inked name on the blank front free end leaf. Contents remain clean and intact.

Keulemans. Red leather over spine and corners, with textured red cloth over boards. Raised spine bands creating six compartments. Gilt stamped lettering on spine. Marbled end leaves. It appears that a library label has been removed from the spine leaving the leather faded and rubbed. There are no other library markings. The margin at the bottom of page 101/102 has been trimmed. Moisture stains are seen along the lower edge affecting the top cover, and the very edge of some pages including a few of the plates. All plates remain bright, clean, and intact.

Raised spine bands creating six compartments. Gilt stamped lettering on spine. Marbled end leaves. It appears that a library label has been removed from the spine leaving the leather faded and rubbed. There are no other library markings. Light moisture stains are seen along the lower edges of the covers, as well as just a little of the first and last few leaves. Light foxing is seen on edges, end leaves, and first few leaves. There is a closed tear seen in the last leaf of the index page from the binding edge. The margin at the bottom of page 101/102 has been trimmed. Volume remains tight and contents are otherwise bright, clean, and intact.

There is also wear on the front paste down where a library plate appears to have been removed. No other library markings are noted. The margin at the bottom of page 101/102 has been trimmed. Moisture stains are seen along the lower edges affecting the covers, as well as the first and last few leaves. There is also a little foxing scattered through the first several leaves and affecting the first plate. Volume remains tight and is otherwise clean and intact.
