In this book, first issued in 1977, distinguished Old Testament scholars join forces to survey the history of the Old Testament period from earliest times to the Roman era. In addition to the editors, contributors include W. Malcolm Clark, William G. Dever, Herbert Donner, A. R. C. Leaney, A. D. H. Mayes, Jacob Neusner, Bustenay Oded, Peter Schafer, J. Alberto Soggin, Thomas L. Thompson, Dorothy Irvin and Geo Widengren. 'This volume will obviously become a necessary tool for students and teachers of the Old Testament, and provide both alike with a substantial amount of reliable information' (Society for Old Testament Study Book List). 'It is well detailed, well furnished with bibliographies, and likely to remain a basic work of reference fora long time to come. It provides a kind of indispensable back-up work to set beside the currently standard histories of Israel' (Epworth Review). 'Those who are interested in problems of Israelite history will find that it brings them up-to-date with the latest thinking; and students in particular will find invaluable its clear and cogent descriptions of those problems and the solutions to them which are currently being canvassed and debated' (Church Times). RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions. All images are of the actual book for sale - no stock images are ever used. Thank you for looking at this listing.

In 1914, the Associated Newspapers sent correspondent Herbert Corey to Europe on the day Great Britain declared war on Germany. During the Great War that followed, Corey reported from France, Britain, and Germany, visiting the German lines on both the western and eastern fronts. He also reported from Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, and Serbia. When the Armistice was signed in November 1918, Corey defied the rules of the American Expeditionary Forces and crossed into Germany. He covered the Paris Peace Conference the following year. No other foreign correspondent matched the longevity of his reporting during World War I. Until recently, however, his unpublished memoir lay largely unnoticed among his papers in the Library of Congress. With publication of his memoir the coeditors reestablished Corey's name in the annals of American war reporting. He writes about the American foot soldier, about troops on the other side, and about noncombatants. He writes of the obstacles reporters faced in conveying the story of the Great War to Americans and displays his ambivalence regarding the entry of the United States into the war. His idiosyncratic, opinionated, and very American voice makes for compelling reading. A clean very presentable copy.
