Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First printing. 243pp. Gray cloth with red lettering stamped on spine. Illustrated from black and white photographs, maps. Owner's stamp on front fly, foxing on page edges, faint dampstain near bottom edges of boards and spine, still a very good copy lacking the dustwrapper. The author was a sport's reporter in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor and then becoming a war correspondent. This is the story of his time spent on the Astoria which was sunk in the Battle of Savo Island just off Guadalcanal. A very uncommon title.
