These are oversized magazines-- The first five have self covers in newsprint, while the rest have cardstock covers. The magazines are all in Very Good condition and were issued without dust jackets. The newsprint paper on the first fiv…e magazine covers have noticeable toning and spots of foxing. The later issues covers are generally clean and bright, but there are spots of foxing and some rust from the staples. The text pages to the first five issues have toning similar to the the covers with generalized toning. The later issues have clean, bright pages. The contents of the magazines include: A complete listing of the Ace books, starting with Ace series A and going through to the S series, followed by an index of the authors. Volume Two gives a list of some of the smaller Science Fiction publishers, or publishers who ran out of funds and discontinued publication quickly, in alphabetical order, including: Bart House, Double-Action Pocketbook, Harlequin (before they went to publishing Romance exclusively, they published a variety of topics) , Merit Books, etc. The Third issue covers short lived Science Fiction Magazines, like Health Knowledge, Bizarre Fantasy Tales, Famous Science Fiction, and more. Volume Four covers Science Fiction Pornography, with an article by Kenneth R. Johnson, and lists of the different companies , titles and authors. Volume Five has an appreciation of Philip Jose Farmer by the editor, along with a list of the books he's published.
