No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Signed by the Governor (Anson P. Morrill), The Adjutant General (James R. Beichelure) and Secretary of State (Alden Jackson) on September 24, 1855. Has been folded, now flat. Light stain at top horizontal fold (see our photos). Appointing A. S. Godfrey as Captain of Company A, Artillery in the Second Regiment of the Second Brigade and Fifth Division of the Maine Volunteer Militia. 10" tall by 15 1/2" wide. Godfrey ended up in Lincoln, NE after the Civil War, where he established a grain elevator and lumberyard in what is today the Historic Haymarket. His elevator was approximately where the sports arena now sits.…
