(Or is that from a piece of tape applied to keep customers from stealing the disc inside?) In this 1957 entry -- Miss Reese's first LP -- she offers the Gershwins' "They Can't Take That Away from Me," Irving Berlin's "All Alone" and "Say It Isn't So," Hoagy Carmichael's "I Get Along Without You Very Well," Arlen & Mercer's "One For My Baby," Bigard & Ellington's "Mood Indigo" -- the classics. Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm vinyl record album, ABC-Paramount ABC-517, in "Full Color Fidelity," which means mono, though orange sticker to jacket front panel declares "This record can be played on All Stereo Players." Near-mint vinyl in a near-mint cardboard jacket which -- though it has been opened -- still wears its original shrink-wrap. Soupy also performs The Name Game, Speedy Gonzales, and The Nitty Gritty. Arranged and conducted by Charles Calello. The coast-to-coast television show -- a rapid-fire stream of comedy sketches, gags and puns, many of which resulted in Sales receiving a pie in the face, which became his trademark -- started in Cincinnati, moved to Detroit and ran nationwide on ABC from KABC-TV in Los Angeles, airing every weekday, 1953-1964, finally moving to New York through 1966. Screen Gems syndicated 260 episodes to local stations outside the New York market during the 1965-66 season, which marked the height of Sales' popularity. It featured guest appearances by stars such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis, Jerry Lewis, and Judy Garland, as well as musical groups including the Shangri-Las, The Supremes and The Temptations. Sales was hired as a Tonight Show guest host in the period between Jack Paar and Johnny Carson. From 1968 to 1975, he was a regular panelist on the syndicated revival of "What's My Line?".
