Manuscript / Paper Collectible
Vintage press kit for the VHS/Beta release of the 1988 film. Pocketed illustrated folder containing two gatherings of promotional reading materials and four pages of xerographically duplicated film reviews. Based on the novel "Twins" by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland, a fictionalized account of the lives of Stewart and Cyril Marcus, twin gynecologists who were discovered dead in their Manhattan apartment. Veering from the body-horror from which he had been known, David Cronenberg here creates a psychological horror revolving around identity, paranoia, and co-dependency, wherein acclaimed and brilliant twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly Mantle's lives begin to unravel when Beverly begins to fall in love with a new patient, Claire Niveau, a film actress with a triple cervix. Featuring a striking performance by Jeremy Irons as the Mantle twins. Set in and shot on location in Toronto, Canada. Folder, Very Good plus with light rubbing. Contents, Near Fine. Criterion Collection 21.
