Hardcover. Condition: New. Population, Development and Environmental Sustainability are the most relevant matter of discussion in today's context. Dynamism of population has made a direct impact on development and environmental issues. Thus the impact of population growth on environment and its implication for survival is an important domain of research. Development can only be pursued if population size is under control in connection with spatio-temporal development within the sustainable environmental framing. It is an evidential fact that, uncontrolled rate of population growth has made the negative impact on environment which has led to the disruption of natural cycle of environment and it may creates hindrance to the development from the perspective of global as well as national platform. Therefore, it is the perfect time to discuss the several aspects of population dynamics in connection with balanced development and sustainable environment in the field of Geo-Environmental perspective. This book is mostly focused on various dimensions of population dynamics and its relation with development and environment followed by some relevant case studies irrespective of Indian Context. Therefore this book would help to undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars and teaching fraternities from different educational institutions. However the aim of this relevant book would also helpful to policy makers and environmental planners for further systematic planning.

Hardcover. Condition: New. Contemporary issues of urban development are the utmost relevant matter of discussion in today's context. Challenges induced by progressive urban growth are the useful subjective debate among the Economist, Geographers, Urban Planners and Administrative Individuals. Process of urban development is the inclusive part for economic development and thus the impact of urban developmental processes on environment and strategies mechanism for survival in future is an important domain of contemporary research. It is an evident fact that, uncontrolled growth of urban development has made the significant impact on encroachment on land and resource potentiality, shortage of urban green space, burden on employment generation, scarcity of housing, water supply and sanitation, health related issues as well as degradation of environment which has led to the disruption of urban ecological cycle and it may create hindrance to the sustainable development in view of urban footprint from the perspective of global as well as national level platform. Therefore it is the perfect time to discuss the several aspects of contemporary issues of urbanisation and strategic measures for future sustainability in the field of urban geography. This book is mostly focus on various dimensions of urban dynamics and its relation with several emerging socio-economic and environmental issues followed by some relevant case studies irrespective of India as well as from the geographical territory of Bangladesh too. Therefore this book would help to the undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers of urban studies, administrative individuals, officials of urban governance, teaching fraternities from different educational institutions. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Despite significant development in earthquake analysis and design in the last 50 years or more, different structures related to industry, infra structure and human habitats get destroyed with monotonic regularity under strong motion earthquake. Even the recent earthquake in Mexico in September 2017 killed a number of people and destroyed national assets amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars.Careful evaluation of the technology reveals that, despite significant development in earthquake engineering, most of the books that are available on the market for reference are primarily focused towards buildings and framed type structures. It is accepted that during an earthquake it is buildings that get destroyed most and has been the biggest killers of human life. Yet, there are a number of structures like retaining walls, water tanks, Bunkers, silos, tall chimneys, bridge piers etc that are equally susceptible to earthquake, and if damaged can cause serious trouble and great economic distress. Unfortunately, many of these systems are analyzed by techniques that are too simplified, unrealistic/obsolete or nothing is done about them, ignoring completely the seismic effects, as no guidelines exist for their analysis/design (like seismic analysis of counterfort retaining walls or dynamic pressures on bunker walls etc.).This highly informative book addresses many of these items for which there exists a significant gap in technology and yet remain an important life line of considerable commercial significance. The book is an outcome of authors' academic research and practice across the four continents (USA, Europe, Africa and Asia) in the last thirty two years, where many of these technologies have been put in practice, that got tested against real time earthquakes. All methods presented herein have been published previously in peer reviewed research journals and international conferences of repute before being put to practice. Professionals working in international EPC and consulting engineering firms, graduates taking advanced courses in earthquake engineering, doctoral scholars pursuing research in earthquake engineering in the area of dynamic soil structure interaction (DSSI) and advanced under graduates wanting to self-learn and update themselves on earthquake analysis and design are greatly benefited from this book. Despite significant development in earthquake analysis and design in the last 50 years or more, different structures related to industry, infra structure and human habitats get destroyed with monotonic regularity under strong motion earthquake. Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. This proposed book aims to present an analysis of several crisis issues induced by global climate changes and implications at the micro-level, particularly from the perspective of ground-based study. Climate crisis leads to several socio-ecological issues which need to discuss with some empirical case studies from the contextual global evidences. Climatic crisis generates several social responses which are associated with mitigating issues in addition to sustainable development goals. Under these circumstances, several loopholes interlinked with climatic crisis need to expose in the present-day context. This book argues that it is important to understand the issues from multiple dimensions. It identifies some important dimensions to discuss in the process. Themes we purpose to cover are: several field-based studies are included for which micro-level field-based data would incorporate to understand current crisis induced by climate change, thus exposing the vulnerabilities of the communities which would be incorporated in different chapters with adequate representation of qualitative methods, modelling-based geospatial approach. Therefore, some secondary data-based studies have also been included to provide a broader picture. Additionally, this book aims to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of the issues mainly from the lenses of Geography, Economics, and Sociology as well as Environmental Studies too. Given the focus of this study, it is believed that an approach that harmonizes the cognitive domain from different discipline is appropriated. A combination of chapters using qualitative as well as quantitative methods also made this book exclusive from others. We believe that this edited book surely contributes the knowledge domain with some relevant chapters discussion in the contemporary time and leads to reduce the gap of knowledge. This proposed book aims to present an analysis of several crisis issues induced by global climate changes and implications at the micro-level, particularly from the perspective of ground-based study.
