Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. The Windermere Series. Includes eight beautiful color illustrations. The Swiss Family Robinson, written by Johann David Wyss, is a classic adventure novel that tells the story of a Swiss family shipwrecked on a deserted island in the East Indies. The family consists of Father, Mother, and their four sons each with distinct personalities and skills. They must rely on their resourcefulness and teamwork to survive, building shelters, finding food, and defending themselves against natural dangers. Over time, they create a thriving home on the island, discovering its various resources and inventing clever solutions to their challenges. The novel is a celebration of family, ingenuity, and the spirit of adventure. It's often considered a tale of survival, but it also conveys lessons about the importance of perseverance, creativity, and unity in the face of adversity.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. MILO WINTER ILLUSTRATIONS A JOURNEY TO THE GARDEN GATE R.M. TOWNSEND 1919 1ST. I am pleased to offer for your consideration: A Journey to the Garden Gate, by Ralph M. Townsend, with illustrations by Milo Winter. This medium-sized hard cover book (7 x 9 ½ inches, 128 pages) was published by Houghton Mifflin of Boston & New York, dated 1919 and a First Edition with the same date on title & copyright pages. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt framing and titles and a paste-down color plate by Winter. These Milo Winter illustrations are really quite stunning, with great detail and color. There is a tissue-guarded color frontispiece and seven additional color plates. The endpapers are also decorated by Winter. This book is not particularly common so don t dilly-dally as the Artist is highly collectible. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and with some tarnishing to the gilt titles and frames and a darkened spine from handling. The paste-down plate on the front cover is a bit darkened but not chipped or damaged. Inside, there is a gift inscription on the half-title but that is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages are clean and bright except those in the proximity of the plates. It seems that these glossy pages are hydroscopic and attract foxing which then shades on to nearby pages. None of the foxing is extreme. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
