First Edition
Staplebound. Condition: Very good +. First Edition (?). 24mo, unpaginated (28pp.), illustrated. A very good or better copy in the publisher's printed stapled wraps. Thin dampstain to the bottom edge of the rear wrap and a crease to same, else a clean example. Rare pocket guide to golf authored exclusively by women, likely just pre-war, and certainly predating the LPGA, which was established in 1950. Contents include photographs and biographies of four women golfers (Hicks, Hall, Dettweiler, and Berg), concise information on etiquette, determination of handicaps, and some basic rules and best practices. On the recto of each spread is a color illustration with a golf tip and a brief verse. Most interesting is a four--page segment entitled "Suggestion for Women's Program," which gives a number of structural and procedural suggestions for women who wish to form a ladies' golf club. OCLC locates five separately listed holdings. An excellent little volume authored by and intended for women golfers. Donovan 27520.
